Amazing Hotel Food and Bartender Staff

I can’t rate this hotel high enough, the staff is amazingly friendly. The rooms are very clean and the views and the pool is the best! Anything you have a question about always feel free to ask the staff they treat you like family not just a guest. Hector is my favorite bartender and always takes care of his customers with anything and is great to talk with. Stay here whenever in Santo Domingo you won’t regret it!

Best pool and service in Santo Domingo

The crew at the pool bar El Sol at the Jaragua Hotel are amazing. Joaquin,Johnatan, Pablo, and Cristian are so friendly and efficient. I have been coming to El Jaragua for over twenty years. And what keeps me returning is the friendly was of the pool staff. The best pool with the best service in Santo Domingo. Not to mention the food. The pool chef Carlito is the best. Delicious chicharrones, ceviche, nachos, etc. all perfectly done and tasty. Mil gracias señores.

Deceptive, greedy, and predatory—this hotel makes you pay for perks you thought you had.

Unlike other Bonvoy properties where a fax or email is enough, here they refuse to honor perks unless the member is at check-in in person. No exceptions. Instead, you’ll get hit with surprise fees: $12/day for WiFi, $35 per person for a slow, unimpressive buffet. This place isn’t luxury—it’s a tourist trap hiding behind fine print.

I hope no one else gets hurt!

I was on business in Latin America and decided to visit the Dominican Republic for 5 days to play at casinos and relax a bit on the beach. I booked the "Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino" - friends recommended it, saying the hotel is in the center of Santo Domingo with many casinos nearby.
I stayed at the hotel for 5 days. The hotel itself is decent, and the service and people are excellent.
However, when I left for a couple of days to Punta Cana, upon my return I discovered that they had moved me to another room, opened my safe, and took my belongings, despite the fact that my 5-day stay hadn't ended and the room was paid for upfront.
Moreover, I had left vital medication in the refrigerator, and I had to search for it - fortunately, it was found.
I have traveled extensively and stayed in various hotels, but I've never encountered such outrageous behavior!
Not only did they open my safe and take my belongings, but they could have at least called or messaged me on WhatsApp, as the hotel staff had all my contact information.
For a Marriott hotel, this is simply an egregious case!
P.S. In any other hotel, they would not only have apologized but also offered some compensation: an upgraded room or a complimentary dinner, but in this hotel, management doesn't know how to apologize, although the reception staff were extremely attentive and tactful.

Would recommend to family and friends

The reception was great, they made sure we were comfortable. Escorted us to our rooms. The rooms were immaculate, everything was perfect. The cleaning person, Mrs. Roxanna, cleaned everything the bathrooms were cleaned and sanitized. She was very polite and professional, and did her job, in my opinion, great. They way the staff behaved and inquired as to our wellbeing was great. I would recommend this hotel family and friends. They made the trip more enjoyable.
