Deceptive and unprofessional
Among all departments, the Front Office at this property was the most unqualified. The Front Office Supervisor, Danielle G, processed duplicate charges: 2 posted transactions of the same amount, not pre-authorizations, on my credit card. To add further insult, due to poor internal communication, the Front Office also processed a separate pre-authorization, plus multiple $100 pending transactions daily. As a result, I received multiple notifications from the bank, plus follow-up calls from Chase Fraud Protection.
To add further insult and trouble to the guest, the rooftop lounge incorrectly processed my room number (1200) as gratuity (tip) when I wrote two dollars ($2.00) as tips on the check.
After deciding to check out a day earlier, Danielle G., Front Office Supervisor, and Austin, Front Desk Associate, were informed of my decision and were requested to provide a folio that shows credits were issued to both misbilling and the one-night. Danielle told me that the accounting office was working on correcting the bill and issuing the credits and would email me the folio when it was done. Based on the verbal assurances from Danielle and Austin, I checked out at 11:50 AM MST and asked Danielle to change my $20 bill for dollar bills so I could tip the valets. As I departed the property, Danielle and I exchanged thanks and holiday greetings.
Approx 12 hours later, at 11:26 PM PST, as I still did not receive a folio, I called the property to check on the status of the matter. Following the call, the Front Office emailed a folio at 11:30 PM PST that showed I was not charged for early departure, but the Front Desk did not correct the duplicate charges and misbilling by the restaurant. Several hours later, the property emailed another folio that showed I was charged for early departure (room + destination charges + fees & taxes), and still no mention of duplicate charges and restaurant misbilling.
In conclusion, it is perplexing to know that Danielle and the Front Office of The Westin Tempe had the audacity and the courage to tell the guest at the property that misbilling – duplicate charges, restaurant misbilling, and credit for one (1) night – would be issued. Yet, they refused to provide a folio showing the adjustments by claiming that the accounting office was working on it. After the guest's departure, Danielle and the Front Office changed the narrative and refused to correct the bill. As of today, Marriott’s Ambassador team is still working on resolving the issues, and the credit card company was made aware of the fraudulent charges. While the guest room was generally acceptable, I cannot recommend The Westin Tempe. Please do your due diligence by reading other reviews and avoid this property at all costs.

When I checked out I told the gal at the front desk who said sorry.
Seriously that’s it? Sorry? No can I do something to make it better? Nothing. I will definitely be staying at The Omni from now on in Tempe
