Stunning hotel and location
I was a little concerned after looking at recent reviews, but I had nothing to worry about!
Stunning hotel set in a gorgeous location. From the moment we walked in the reception staff were warm & welcoming. We had used the online chat to let them know we would be arriving early and they had our room ready, which was great. We had a minor issue with our room but it was sorted out promptly without any hassle.
Rooms are grand yet modern, spacious and comfortable. We had a great nights sleep.
The views are amazing! Well worth the upgrade to sea view rooms.
Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I would agree with some reviews of the younger staff at breakfast and at the bar, not necessarily inline with other staff we encountered (or for the price of the hotel) but it didn’t hinder our stay.
I’d recommend splashing out on this hotel for a treat! Hopefully we will be back soon.

Lovely old hotel with friendly helpful staff, good food and an amazing view out to sea. The room decor was a little tired but that really didn’t matter as the bed, pillows and bathroom were really comfortable and clean.

Fantastic hotel
Just home after an overnight stay at the marine hotel north Berwick
It was fantastic!
Everything from check in , lunch , spa , breakfast excellent
Our sea view room was amazing! Comfy bed, beautiful views of sea and golf course , room had everything you would need from fluffy towels, complimentary toiletries , mini bar , water and fudge on arrival , it was a perfect stay. The staff were all fantastic and very helpful and friendly , they are a credit to the hotel they certainly maintained a very high standard at all times and nothing was too much trouble . This was our first visit to this hotel but it won’t be our last! We will definitely be back!

Awful coffee and service
Just popped in for a coffee while kids were playing golf. It’s a beautiful hotel with even more beautiful views. It has everything going for it, yet somehow it manages to mess up the most basic thing - a coffee. The flat whites we ordered were comfortably the worst looking and tasting coffees we’ve had in decades. Motorway service stations serve better coffee. Hospital vending machines serve better coffee. And then when we tried to get the bill to pay, we had to wander round the hotel to find a member of staff who would take payment - there seem to be a lot of staff doing nothing but chatting with each other. One day, the Marine will live up to its building and views. Until then, it will have to settle for the worst coffee in Scotland award

This hotel is NOT restored to former glory as claimed on their website
Checking in was poor as they couldn’t find my reservation for dinner nor voucher I am using and check out due to poor service and a very disappointing experience the service charge was dropped from my bill but still taken from my Visa.
This hotel may suit others however it is NOT a 5 star hotel nor has it been restored to its former glory as claimed on website. The marketing ( ref state of rooms , refurb , service and decor is out of touch with reality which is old tired and mostly in need of TLC.
Service in bar was poor and the restaurant refurbishment took away views to the sea due to high benches and therefore was what looked like school chais and tables scattered around. Breakfast was table service which was on a par with a premier inn and the bread for toasting looked like bottom of the range product.
The local menu was Italian with regional specialties of Tuna! The wine list was good on paper but when asking for a bottle Valpolicella there was none in stock so went for Chianti but none in stock.
Very poor.
Room 302 is very poor the sleep was OK but woken by noisy fridge , view from window was taken by paint peeling from window frames and ceiling and the bathroom it was a health and safety hazard as you had to be a stick insect to get through the door due to too big sink size and door obstructed by the bath as a result we had no shower as we were concerned about safety getting out. This room should not be let out in my opinion let alone charge £300
I made my feelings of great disappointment known at reception and was informed a manager would contact me not surprisingly after 7 days no one had contacted me I subsequently called the hotel to have the conversation and let’s say they are on a journey to restore the hotel to former golf but I my opinion are not close.
Management are 99% responsibility for service and 99% responsible to resolve them and in this case in my opinion based on experience of real 5 star hotel this is not what is claimed on their website site
