Amazing Stay @ Hotel Sant'Angelo

I would love to give a 6 Star rating to this hotel, if there's an option available ;)
Ambience of the hotel will take you back to 60s or 70s era (I love it personally). Their rooms were spacious with a compact washroom.
This hotel is located right at the center of all famous attractions considering public transport in Rome is good. It's just 10-12 minutes of walk-away from Vatican City.
I met some great professionals at the hotel reception (Luca and Silvia). They both invested their time in helping us to get a hang of "not to be missed attractions" in Rome. Patiently answered all questions/queries we had (since it was our first time
there and didn't know much about the place). You might say - it's a part of their jobs however, consider managing all guests, all day long and still be on toes to help/assist/entertain the guests. Francesca was available through e-mails before our stay and used to reply promptly to all queries.
My recommendations:
-Great professionals at reception
-You'd definitely like this hotel if you want to experience the ambience from golden era
-All major attractions in the city will be covered via public transport
-Walk-able distance from Vatican City
-Airport Shuttle point is almost 400 meters away from the hotel and service is available at 6 Euros per person to the airport
-Local bus station is around 100 meters from hotel

Worst hotel and staff - Do not stay here

After reading reviews, I was in hope that this hotel would live up to expectations but sadly such a disappointment.
We booked for 3 nights as part of our 2 week European honeymoon and contacted the hotel months before arrival to let them know we would be on our celebrating in Rome. The hotel contacted us to let us know we would be given a superior room with beautiful view.
We arrived quite late in the evening and upon arrival, all looked okay but after waiting at reception for 10 minutes as the receptionist was looking at the computer we where starting to get a bit confused. When he finally welcomed us after standing around, he took our passports and confirmation, he said nothing for the longest check in we have every experienced. I asked if there was a problem ask it was about another 10 minutes of silence while he was on the computer, he said no and carried on. When he finally said your room is ready, his colleague came out the back and they started having a chat for another 10 minutes and laughing... as you can imagine we where starting to feel quite as frustrated as we had been travelling all day and it was getting quite late. We finally got given our room key with no explication where the room was, we had had enough at this point so just wandered to find our room. When we finally got to our room, we where shocked at the state of the bedroom, bathroom and facilities. The bed was not made, there was a foul smell, the view looked on to a wall, the bathroom had not been cleaned and the plaster in the walls was cracked. We where is so much shock we decided to just get out of the hotel for some fresh air and to check our booking confirmation.
When we returned after 20 minutes, we went back to our room to see if we could get past the horror and just put up with it. It was just so horrendous and the occupants next door where screaming at each other whilst a baby was crying. We couldn’t quite believe this was happening and went to reception. Well, to cut a long and frustrating conversation short, the hotel said they where fully booked and could not offer us a better room. We explained we had paid for a better room and the hotels pictures did not show the room we had been given. The reception staff where rude and just said there’s nothing that can be done. We where so upset and said we could not stay in that room due to its horrendous hygiene standards and the noise. After asking for refund and contacting Expedia for a refund, they somehow offered us new room (even though they said they had none). We went to the room and it was much better but we where so shocked and upset at our experience, there was no way we could stay at this hotel. Instead we checked out without getting a penny back and booked about her hotel around The corner, called Hotel 21, which was 100x better.
Do not stay here, it was a horrendous experience with rude staff and unhygienic rooms. The staff where ignorant and lied to us from the very beginning.

Good location

Stayed for 4 nights, the room was clean when we arrived. The down side is the shower, it’s very tiny making it very hard to have a cozy shower time.
The break fast it’s ok, but a bit cost for the same things every morning.
Reception staff was normally very nice and friendly and always ready to help.
As mentioned in the title, we walked from the hotel to everywhere, nothing is more then 50 min walking. Very good located.

Wife’s 30th getaway

I surprised my wife with a 3 night stay at Hotel Sant’Angelo. We stayed in the annex which is literally less than 100m down the road.
Hotel Sant’Angelo is perfectly situated in the city, all the major attractions are within walking distance, yet you are not smack bang in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the main streets. I wrote ahead to the hotel to advise that we were coming to celebrate my wife’s 30th and when we arrived in our room there was a bottle of champagne, a birthday card from the staff and a cake!!! The room was pretty standard as far as hotels go, clean, spacious, small bathroom, room safe, etc. If we were to return we would seriously consider staying here again.

Perfect location. Hotel only ok. Nothing great.

We came here as family over the Christmas holiday. My daughter knows Rome as she studied here for a semester. We knew we wanted Prati for the location. The hotel was only ok. Thankfully we’ve been to Rome before so we kind of knew what to expect. We got dropped off at hotel and there’s not really any signage but you have to go up to floor two to check in. Our rooms were ready early and they let us move in. The only problem was as it turned out we were across the street at the Annex. We had to lug our stuff down the street to another location. That night was the worst night of sleep I have ever had. It turns out one of our rooms was directly above a karaoke bar!! It was so loud as the music was bumping from 11:00 pm- 3:00 am. Needless to say we were not going to stay here for 8 nights. I went to desk to complain and they moved us to main hotel. They were extremely accommodating and found us two new rooms and moved everything while we were out.
The main hotel was much better. Smaller rooms but much cleaner and nicer. The big problem though was the cleaning crew or someone left the kids’ room ajar 3 nights in a row. Thankfully nothing was stolen but it’s a little unsettling to come back and find room unlocked and slightly open. Daughter complained first night and then it happened 3 times in a row. She even google translated a note that she left. Also 2 nights in a row their room wasn’t made up. Not sure what was going on there. We had no issues with the other bedroom being fixed up. The beds were the most part comfortable the room was small but clean. We did have a problem though our shade didn’t close so you got a lot of street noise and sound. After saying something to them they said somebody on Christmas day to come and fix the blind so that was quite helpful. Still wasn’t perfect I didn’t go all the way down but whatever at that point. We went to manager’s special only once but it was a complete disappointment. One small carafe of wine, no beer, coffee, or water. Very limited food and not much to eat.
A few tweaks and this could be a great hotel. The location is great. The staff is wonderful, friendly and helpful. The price is affordable. Not sure that I’d stay here again given there are so many options in Rome but it’s a solid choice as long as know what to expect.
