Hemelse plek tussen chaotische drukte
Kamers super , zeer attente ontvangst , gastronomische tapas , top jonge chef en top personeel.

Restaurant Malabar Junction
We verbleven niet in het hotel, maar bezochten het restaurant Junction voor het diner. Het eten was geweldig en zeer redelijk; de wijn was erg goedkoop volgens Indiase normen. We hadden pech op een serieus warme avond en aangezien het restaurant half open is, heeft het geen airco. De plafondventilatoren waren onvoldoende, maar het personeel deed zijn best om vrijstaande fans te voorzien, wat hielp. Mijn vriend en ik hadden de tandbaars vis, die gewoon fantastisch was. Onze mannen hadden allebei curry en ervan genoten. Brood en een kleine Thei Bormans zijn complementair. Ondanks de hitte, hadden we een geweldige maaltijd en voelden dat het zeer redelijk geprijsd was. Geweldige service ook!

Een perfect verblijf
Dit boetiekhotel bood een oase van verkoeling en rust voor de start van onze tour door India. De waterkant en verschillende interessante plaatsen om te bezoeken liggen op slechts een korte loopafstand en meer op slechts een paar minuten rijden met onze tourbus. Het aangeboden fusion-eten was uitstekend. We zouden dit hotel zeker aanbevelen aan vergelijkbare groepen. We waren hier met een ander gezin en onze jonge volwassen kinderen.

Double Charging - No reply!
I stayed both at Malabar House and their sister property in total for 7 nights. I paid in advance by bank transfer middle February, sending them copy of the bank transfer and later respective location code.
Until my departure (28.03) they were unable to locate the transfer and I had to pay the whole stay again by credit card.
This while my bank informed me that the money reached the recipient bank but not the final account.
I asked my bank to cancel the initial transfer (obviously with additional charges) and being aware that Malabar Escapes had to agree with the devolution, which they assured they would.
Until now, May, the amount hasn’t been returned and the reservation department - Adithya - stopped answering my e-mails.
Fully unacceptable for a Relais & Chateaux member.
I don’t understand why the hotel’s finance department cannot handle this situation proactively with their bank instead of putting the stress on the customer’s side, not to mention the double payment already debited twice in my account. So I cannot help wondering if there is any scam with payments or simply incompetent staff.
I already asked to speak with GM or senior management and they simply do not respond.
What could have been a nice stay turned into a nightmare. I hope that by sharing this experience , hotel management cares to investigate the matter, return the money and apologize for this serious inconvenience.

Unfortunate stay
When we arrived I had high expectations as a heritage hotel. However it didn’t live up, it was dated, dirty, no pool/relaxing area (the pics look like it has). The service was dire, I did complain as we didn’t get breakfast the 2 mornings we stayed due to abysmal service, even 2 cups of tea 49 mins came without milk then undrinkable. Trying to get a drink in the day was painful. Of all the 9 hotels we stayed in across India the other heritage hotels didn’t disappoint, this was a real let down and wouldn’t recommend at all. Ironically there look to be some beautiful hotels in Kochi sadly not this one.
